Siblings inspired by Tassie Look no further for evidence of the growing international appeal of the University of Tasmania than two of its students. Hina Durrani decided against London – where two of her brothers work – and moved to Tasmania, where her youngest brother Waqas has been excelling academically and as a community leader. The family, from Pakistan, has a special academic pedigree. Great-grandmother Begum Hamdam Sultan Kamal-ud-Din – who studied at university, promoted education for women around the world and met Queen Elizabeth as a princess. This was Ms Durrani’s inspiration to seek higher education from a foreign university.
