Side laterals, one of THE best shoulder developers! But so often done wrong. If you watch the video, notice that the movement is initiated and and performed with only the shoulder joint, no arm movement! There is also a slight rotation of the joint so that the pinky is leading over the thumb. This keeps the anterior delts out of the movement. Youll also notice the dumbbells never make it higher than about my low pec region. If you are rotating as you go up, you will find that it is impossible to raise your arms any higher...if you can, you are either opening up the joint (thumb higher than pinky thus allowing the anterior dealt to come into play...or your arms are bent and the weights are in front of you.) This exercise, along with wide grip upright rows, will put more muscle on your shoulders, and bring out more shape than all the pressing exercises in the world!!! This exercise was performed after hitting both anterior and posterior heads, to ensure the medial delt takes the most stress.
