Sierra Leone News: SLRTA sets to meet UN Road Safety Standards Dr. Serah Bendu delivering speech on the launchIn a bid to meet standards set out in the United Nations Decade for Action on Road Safety 2011-2020, the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority (SLRTA) in collaboration with partners on Saturday, November 22, 2013 launched the National Road Safety Policy at the Country Lodge in Freetown. The goal of the National Road Safety Policy (NRSP) is to reduce the burden of premature deaths and disabilities on people as a result of road traffic injuries in line with the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety, which among other goals is to stabilize and reduce the forecast level of road traffic deaths around the world. Launching the Policy on behalf of the President, the Minister of Information and Communication, Alhaji Alpha Kanu applauded the management of SLRTA and their partners for the initiative, stating that the policy will serve as a blue print for all road safety related issues in the country. awoko.org/2013/11/29/sierra-leone-news-slrta-sets-to-meet-un-road-safety-standards/
