Sierra Leone Premier League kicks-off third week in February Head of Commmunications of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) John Konteh says the 2014 Sierra Leone Premier League will start in the third week of February. He said the Premier League Board (PLB) headed by Ibrahim Sorie Kamara will soon annouce a date for the commencement and also release fixtures and details on how the league will look like. The SLFA was initially hoping that the fourteen team league would have started this month. But it didnt materialise because the PLB was only constituted just over ten days ago. After annoucing the names of those that constituted the board, the SLFA President Isha Johansen informed the press that the league was going to hopefully kick off in the first week of February. But Konteh said after members of the PLB met and did all the reality checks, they decided that it was not possible to get the countrys top tier competition started in the first week of February and therefore decided to go for the third week. Diamond Stars won last years league largely boycotted by nine out of fourteen clubs. They are currently preparing to meet Raja Casablanca of Morocco in the Preliminary round of the CAF Champions League in February. Their preparations suffered a blow last week when they cancelled two international build up matches against Guinean sides Horoya FC and AS Kaloum. Meanwhile, Konteh has also confirmed that the Countrys FA Cup will commence on the 9th February in Bo City. 170 teams in all will participate in the FA Cup and the winner will represent Sierra Leone in the next years CAF Confederations Cup and will also pick up a cash prize of Le20m plus medals. The last time the FA Cup competition was held was in 2006 and was won by Kallon FC after they defeated Central Parade in the final at the SLFA grounds at Kingtom.
