Sierra Leoneans in the Eastern part of the country have requested the Constitutional Review Committee (CRC) to visit every chiefdom in Sierra Leone in their civic education and public consultation process which is expected to commence before the end of March 2014. At the Campaign for Good Governance (CGG) led Regional Civil Society Forum, the participants stressed concern that the Peter Tucker Commission lacked the input of the citizens at Chiefdom level hence it non-acceptance. Komba MANGA is an activist in the East, he noted that the Committee must ensure that the reviewed constitution carries the wishes and aspirations of the people of Sierra Leone and not just the educated few. At the end of the Workshop, the participants presented a set of recommendations that will be consolidated as the voice of civil society. Head of CRCs Communication and Outreach, Mohamed Faray Kargbo assured the Easterners that the process will be very inclusive and participatory. He informed them that the 9 themamic sub-committees will soon be visiting the various regions to educate people about the recommendations of the Peter Tucker Report and the 1991 Constitution. Similar engagements were done in Bo, Makeni and Waterloo in the Western Rural Area.
