Sierra Vista, AZ Ranked One of the Top Five Best Towns CNN Money magazine named Sierra Vista as one of the top five best places to live in the “least crowded towns” category in the online supplement to the September 2013 “Best Places to Live” issue. Sierra Vista scored fourth on a list of 20 cities. With a population of nearly 44,907—just 295 people per square mile—coupled with a median household income of $64,927, Sierra Vista was noted for its picturesque mountains and canyon views, majestic starry skies, abundant natural areas, moderate climate, and nearby burgeoning wine-making industry. The publication evaluated communities that are experiencing population growth and with a median family income above the state average. The 2010 U.S. Census pegged the median household income for Arizonians at $54,637 and $55,970 for Americans. Boulder City, Nev.; Canyon Lake, Texas; and Nantucket, Mass. were ranked numbers one through three. Vail, Ariz., near Tucson, ranked twentieth. The magazine developed its list using census data and Onboard Informatics projections/aggregations.
