Sigh. Heres the scoop: Grayson tested positive for CDiff, which explains the diarrhea. They are assuming the three negative cultures from the last two weeks didnt run the same test with the high sensitivity and thats why those tests have been negative and now this is positive. Annoying, because we couldve been treating this two weeks ago. yet, it is what it is. He will be treated with Flagyl every six hours for the C diff and hopefully will see the diarrhea subside quickly. We do not have booty cultures back yet those can take several days. He will continue on morphine for pain control, and Benadryl as needed for the itching that the morphine causes! :/. We were up a lot last night due to itching but it is very nice that he can tell me exactly what is bothering him now. They are switching his antibiotic to cefepime which is easier on the stomach yet is still protecting him in case there is some sort of infection. Brady took Kate to the doctor this morning. And she has tested positive for fluB. The doctor also heard crackling in her lungs and although he doesnt think theres anything going on in there, he is starting her on an anabiotic just to be safe due to our circumstances. She will also be starting Tamiflu today. She had the flu shot but it was only in her system system for eight days when she was exposed. She says she feels okay this morning and is only running a low-grade fever so hopefully her symptoms will be less due to the flu shot. Brady is contacting our primary doctor to see if we need to be started on prophylaxis to protect us. My flu shots been on my system for over a month of Brady has not had one. Graysons medical team is trying to decide what to do with him as well. Whether a prophylaxis or just jumping straight to Tamiflu. His flu shot had been in his system for 11 days when he was exposed. Im feeling a little defeated this morning and overwhelmed with two sick kiddos into separate places although we would be separating them anyways if we were home so its better that were here and Graysons being watched closely. All things happen for a reason! I am also thrilled that we are at least getting answers and can move forward with treatment! Grayson is much more comfortable on the morphine so hes handling being here very well. And a plethora of stickers helps also! ;)
