Sightseeing with my daughter around Upolu, We walked up to the front of the completed Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Apia and asked the care taker of the Katoliko Cathedral, if we were able to take photos inside! We were very blessed to have this chance to get a close up look and take some shots when he kindly lead us inside after greeting us with Manuia le Kerisimasi as it was New Years Eve afternoon that day, and he was preparing the Cathedral for the end of 2014 Mass! Look how detailed the structure is in and out? The history of this Cathedral, is of the Immaculate Conception for the Archdiocese of Samoa in Apia. It was dedicated on the 31 May! Announcing the dedication ceremony on the church TV, Archbishop Alapati Lui Mataeliga thanked the church members for their continuing support in building the church! Then leading the list of overseas guests was the Pope’s representative in the Pacific, Archbishop Martin Krebs, who is based in Wellington, New Zealand, and built by Father Ricky Bernard and a team of local builders, the project relied on the financial support of the church members! What an honour for my daughter and I to view such a master piece of Gods holy home of worship! It was worth experiencing with my baby girl! Excuse the pictures as I took these from my phone. I should of uploaded my daughters from her camera! Ah well you can still see how beautiful it is. :) Lynn.
