(Yes candidates of BSL6 signing standard from anywhere in UK can join in and only need to travel ONCE - to Birmingham!) Join in anytime from Monday 2 September 2013 and your portfolio must be signed off by Saturday 28 June 2014. How it works? 1st Initial Assessment - You must video a group of three people (both Deaf and Hearing people with BSL Level 6 Standard) – have a discussion on your work or volunteer work with Deaf people for 10 minutes (5 minutes Productive & 5 minutes Receptive). 2nd Then you must send your email address and a Postal Order for £20 to VisCom, 3 South Lane, Hessle HU13 0RS on the same day that you upload your video. Once VisCom has received your Postal Order then an Internal Verifier, Alan Davison, will check your BSL standard. If Alan decides that your clip is not up to the required standard then you Alan will send you a brief feedback report but your £20 is NOT refundable. 3rd If Alan decides that you have met the required standard, he will then inform A1 Assessor Bryan David Fowler of VisCom. VisCom will advise you by email that you have been accepted on the Portfolio Building course and ask you to pay VisCom £930 by BACS/Bank Transfer (bank details will be sent by email). 4th Once VisCom has received your £930, Bryan will email you A1, A2, A3 and A8 forms as MS Word documents with strict instructions for how to complete them. There will be an explanation on both A3 and A8 forms. You must read/check which Units and Learning Outcomes then record your first video evidence clip. 5th After you video your first evidence clip, upload your video to VisCom-Training. Alan will check your video clip to assess whether it meets the required standard, if so he will inform Bryan who will then check that it meets the Learning Outcomes that you covered. Both Alan and Bryan will assess the first seven video clips you upload and provide you with feedback as part of your course fee but you will be required to pay £50 for each additional clip that you upload to be assessed. 6th If Bryan is happy with you have covered your Learning Outcomes in the video clip. He will send you another email with A3 and A8 forms and strict instructions for you to read/check and video your next evidence clip. This process will be repeated until you have submitted all seven video evidences. 7th You must have completed all seven acceptable video evidences by Friday 30 May 2014. Bryan will then email you to meet him in Birmingham on Saturday 28 June 2014, the venue in Birmingham will be confirmed. At this meeting, Bryan will complete your A5 to A7 forms such as Live Observation, Professional Discussion or Question & Answer if needed and Sign Off your Portfolio.
