Energy — Always on the go living a high-adrenaline lifestyle and/or feeling weary, lethargic, and fatigued. Temperament — Very driven and short-tempered and/or feeling overwhelmed with everyday life and mildly depressed. Mental — Racing thoughts and scattered thinking and/or mental fog. Libido — Worse PMS and lower libido. Weight — Weight gain around the middle and possible food cravings including carbs and caffeine. Blood Pressure — High blood pressure and/or low blood pressure and dizziness. Other — Intolerance to cold and possible hair loss. Some other signs of adrenal fatigue may include asthma, bronchitis, or chronic cough, allergies, recurrent infections, muscle weakness, back pain, hypoglycemia, inflamed joints, headaches, excessive thirst and/or urination, swelling, hemorrhoids, varicose veins, indigestion, hyper-pigmentation, and irregular heart sounds. How to Balance the Adrenal Glands Our adrenal glands need certain nutrients to keep functioning optimally. Here are some of the things they need: Nourish the Adrenals B Vitamins — The adrenal glands eat B Vitamins like they are candy. Super B is a fantastic B Vitamin supplement. Essential Fatty Acids — The adrenals need Omega 3 oils found in fish oil like OmegaGize or flax seed oil, up to 1/4 c. per day! Trace Minerals — Trace minerals are essential for adrenal health. Mineral Essence is the one I use. You can also use a pinch of a good high-quality sea salt like Redmond salt or Himalayan salt in a glass of room temperature water and drink first thing in the morning (before 8 AM) to help nourish the adrenals. Give the Adrenals a Break We need to learn to relax and let our adrenals take a break from the constant production of adrenaline and cortisol, the stress hormone. Yoga, stretching, meditation, adequate sleep — all of these things will help. Young Living’s cortistop can also be helpful for this. Nutmeg essential oil or EndoFlex, a blend of essential oils, may help nourish the adrenals.
