Sigurd is a name some of you might know, but for those who dont, he was a legendary hero in Scandinavian mythology. This is the song that speaks about his battle with Fafnir, a dragon with no wings. Sigurds foster father Regin was a son of Hreidmarr and he had two brothers, Otr and Fafnir. Loki, one of the nordic gods, killed Otr by mistake and Regins father demanded gold from Loki, but Loki gave them gold which was cursed by a dwarf Andvari. After that, Fafnir Killed Hreidmarr and took his gold. Regin was a smith and he later became a foster father of Sigurd. He made him a sword from Sigurds father sword parts and sent him out to kill Fafnir and bring him back his heart. Sigurd killed Fafnir and while he was roasting his heart, he burned his finger on it. After that he put his finger in to the mount and then he suddenly could understand the animals. Now he knew why Regin wanted the heart. Then Odin advised Sigurd to kill Regin since he was also corrupted. Sigurd did that and became a king, with the gold he got from killing Fafnir and his new ability to understand animal language. The song is sung and played by a traditional band from Denmark called Krauka, on traditional instruments. I find their music very pleasing and they are on of my favourite bands. You should check them out if you like this song, enjoy! ~Dux Guduscanorum
