Sikkim Liberatiom Party After the protest lodged by Sikkim Liberation Party on 24th June, 2013 against being labelled as “Foreigner” to the majority community of Sikkim by alleged old settlers in a writ filed in the Supreme Court of India, the issue has snowballed into protest everywhere in the State of Sikkim. SLP has directed its members and supporters to be prepared for any kind of circumstances. This is not the first time that Sikkimese have been under attack and their rights being impinged upon. From the very first day of being the part of India, there has been grand design against the interest of Sikkimese people. 1. Firstly, the Nepalese seat in the State Legislative Assembly was abrogated. 2. Sikkimese unity was divided into Bhutia, Lepcha and Nepali. 3. Further the Nepalese of Sikkim origin was divided into OBC and NBC and to the pinnacle of caste and sub-caste. 4. The Bhutia-Lepcha brothers were divided into primitive and non primitive tribe. 5. All the heritages of historical and socio-religious importance are destroyed and defiled in the name of development. 6. All the natural resources has been sold out to the brink. 7. All the Old Laws protecting the interest of Sikkimese people have been nullified. 8. After selling out all the economic and administrative rights, even the political right was auctioned through Municipal Corporation Act of 2011. 9. Last but not the least, after demolishing all the security cover of the Sikkimese people, they were adorned with the tag of Foreigners. In continuity, on the other hand a grand design is in the making to wipe out the history of Sikkim by destroying the historical spot of blood-brotherhood at Kabi-Lunchok in the name of development, which must be opposed and resisted by all the Sikkimese. While on the one side the majority are being tagged as foreigners, there has been persistently cowardly attack to destroy the historical base of the minority community. SLP appeals to all the section of the Sikkimese society to stand united to fight the diabolical forces. Historical places are neither constructed or developed, instead protected and conserved. No amount and proportion of concrete structure can equate and replicate the sanctity and values of such places. The party warns that execution of projects only to provide undue favor to the contractor or appease the youths must be halted. SLP stands firmly committed to support the steps initiated by Save Kabi-Lunchok. The party views that denigration of the majority community as foreigner and effort to destroy the history and heritage of Bhutia-Lepcha community with same insight which must be protested and opposed till last breath by every Sikkimese.
