Simple Joys, Day 33 Winter weather has returned. Visible frost on the grass and car windows needed to be scraped. A cold start to a lovely day--walking for over an hour with my friend (and coachee) Lynn Palermo as the sun warmed us completely. it was a beautiful autumn morning--crisp, clear, with the trees still shedding their golden leaves. Going to the St. Cyrils Basket Bonanza this afternoon to be On the Scene. The Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius are remarkable women who work hard, have a wonderful sense of humor, and warm, caring, and compassionate. I am blessed to be count them as friends. Sister Donna Marie, head of the school, greeted me with a big smile and a hug. The students, Sisters, and families had a great time and they monies raised go to support St. Cyrils. A massage--during a stressful week was just what I needed. I was a bundle of tension and afterwards, I felt calm, centered, and relaxed. Thanks Laura, for bringing me back to center and balance. The Juvie RTHA is much more visible now that some of my trees are bare. I watched him fly in, sit quietly, get closer to the feeders, and then heard the blue Jay Alarm. The hawk still sounds like a juvie as he hones his hunting skills. Darkness comes earlier and earlier. This now the time of quiet, stillness, dormancy as winter approaches. How I love being in th4 comfort of my home, under warm blankets, reading or watching a movie...or listening to music--Willie Nelson is singing Angel Eyes. I embrace the joy of getting older...of the lines on my face representing the book that is my life, lvoing the lessons Ive learned and letting go of regrets.Rod Stewart is now is singing Wonderful World--perfect for my post. Theres joy in getting older, in reveling in the lines and the changes to our bodies. Being proud of being older is what I am. Look in my eyes and see my life. And dont listen to people who tell you that because you are 40. 50. 60. 70. 80...you cant do this or that or dress as you like. Be who you are, not who others expect or want you to be. Theres joy in being ourselves. It is indeed a wonderful world...
