Simple dams in a dry ditch have created extra breeding habitat for great crested newts. Thanks to Tim Jones of The Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales for creating a series of pools by building small dams under license in collaboration with Amphibian and Reptile Conservation. Last year, Tim installed the first dam as an experiment and great crested newts utilised the new habitat for breeding within six weeks. Elsewhere, ARC are creating a sunlit ride for adders and building structurally diverse extensive south facing windrows from the brash, logs and root-balls.
