Simply saying thank you... Again, many people in the Spiritual/Developmental world are amazing givers but simply cannot receive! They can do weeks worth of preparation and cooking so that others can really enjoy the party. But they have a tough time hearing from one person at a time what a great job theyve done let alone the whole party at once. Some have a heard time hearing how beautiful they are. Not from someone trying to get something. But a genuine compliment sent from the heart in the spur of the moment. Despite that is what they most need to hear. There are many people in Scandinavia, that on hearing something good said about themselves immediately deflect the comment away with another compliment to the giver, or diffuse it amongst the team. Part of the explanation is Janteloven - dont you dare believe you are more or higher than anyone else - From a cynical angle, some people dont want to accept anything from another because then they become indebted to them. Owe them somehow a favour, in the others power. But most of us its a learnt defence. If we dared take something someone else offers then maybe, just maybe we would dare to believe that we are actually liked or even loved!!! Conversely, that is exactly what we want and need to really feel about ourselves. But if we get that the whole excuse for not living who we are - fully falls away and we would have to start living from another ground. One of worth, of self-value of love to self and of an independent love to That Which Is. If we dont accept gifts given honestly and freely from others, we stop the Dharma wheel. We know too well that for there to be balance there has to be both giving and receiving. But weve become compulsive givers and lost the joy of receiving; both the actual joy of receipt but we rob the giver their own joy in that process. All we have to do on hearing something good said to or about us is simply... Say Thank you It doesnt mean we agree. It doesnt need any explanation. It can be complimented by a hand over our own heart when we say it, maybe a bow as we do. Thank you ...and the wheel keeps turing P
