Sin is fun and funny! Ive probably said that to my kids, and nieces and nephews, and youth group kids hundreds of times over the years. As a matter of fact I said it last night, and KC replied thats a new one! (snarky man of mine) But I want them to know that sin doesnt typically start out hurting people, and painful, and damaging relationships - if it led with its consequences, sin wouldnt be tempting to ANYONE. No, its sneaky. It starts out making us laugh, and making us momentarily feel good, but is only a shadow of what we deeply desire. So were drawn in. We dont use our better judgment from a time not in temptation. We fall into the trap and may even enjoy it for a bit. I want my kids to know this about sin so theyre prepared for the bait and switch. Cuz if you love Jesus then you have a very real enemy who hates his guts, and therefor hates your guts, and has no problem hitting you/me/anyone where were most vulnerable. So be aware, and remember that your enemy knows your sense of humor and what you really want, and hes all too happy to give you a cheap counterfeit that will never be a good as the real deal.
