Since 6 am Friday morning the two scrub jays have been obsessed with the cat. They wake us up in the morning. They follow him from room to room. Its hard to say precisely what sparked the conversation: he has been here for two years. His behavior hasnt changed and he doesnt go outdoors. Perhaps a different cat that resembles him did something they didnt like. Perhaps theyre feeling especially territorial this spring. Who knows? Theres no window he can look out of where they wont descend on him to shriek short incomprehensibilities. At first the cat talked back to them, but theyre been relentless and hes done engaging. He tends to avoid exposing himself near windows at this point, knowing that even a sight of him minding his own business will set them into a frenzy of squawking. So thats why I havent been on Twitter much. Ive got the real thing happening right here.
