Since Canadians speak passable English sometimes, its possible to forget that I am living in a foreign country and when I say things like Theres good eatin on that! they may not realise I am quoting Lofty Wiseman. Its easy to forget that although us Brits know all of Canadian history and culture (theres not much of it, and every time you meet a Canadian (*) they insist on telling it all to you) but they know very little of ours and think we are all like Doctor Who and the folks from Coronation Street. (*) In case any Brits havent met any Canadians in the last few years, heres a catch-up summary. . Coronation Street is still the most popular show on Canadian TV. . Tim Hortons started doing a dark roast coffee. . The Froggy politician dude who was rude to the Queen has a son who is now in politics too. Even at 93, Prince Philip could still beat him up. . Tim Hortons started doing camp-coffees, like espressos and cappuccinos; however, since they are made from powder and have tonnes of sugar they actually taste worse than if they were made from a real bottle of Camp Coffee. . Prime Minister, Rob Ford, could beat Prince Philip up; though I dont think he would. . Tim Hortons finally dropped any pretence at offering a food option for vegetarians when they stopped doing egg-salad sammiches; and instead offered two more weird chickeny things. . Toronto is still the capital of Canada, Canadians still wont accept this. . Tim Hortons and Burger King merged. . Canada now has plastic bank-notes although they are slowly starting not to be worth the paper they are printed on. . William Shatner, Donald Sutherland, Keanu Reeves, Lorne Greene, Raymond Burr, John Candy, Mike Myers, Seth Rogan, Ryan Gosling, Anna Paquin and Michael J Fox are still all denying being Canadian; however Bryan Adams is still the most hated Canadian in the Commonwealth and possibly the world. . Tim Hortons now has a credit card, with actual buttons and lights on it. . Leonard Cohen is still Canadas coolest person, despite PM Rob Fords efforts. Leonard Cohen probably isnt a kiddy fiddler though like most famous British media people.
