Since I can’t run my beagles because of the stupid turkey season - TopicsExpress

Since I can’t run my beagles because of the stupid turkey season law, I have been walking almost every day. I left a while ago to walk even though it was raining and found that there was a large crowd of people at the park so I changed my mind. Maybe I will go later. I have always been blessed with good health which mostly comes from good genetics and some from being hard headed enough to do something about it. I remember being about 13 years old and being pretty chunky. I always was active and always stayed outside playing and running, but at that age, I was over weight. Sometime around then, I discovered that boys and girls were different and that being out of shape did not help me if I wanted to continue researching these differences. At that point in my life, I was 5 feet 3 inches and weighed 165 .lbs. There were no programs in my town to join that could help me trim up and get in shape. I decided to start my own program. I began by trying to develop my arms and shoulders. I did not have weights to use so I decided that push-ups, along with sit-ups, would be a place to start. At first, I couldn’t do 20 push-ups but over time I found that they became easier and easier. With-in a couple of years, I was able to do a hundred or more with no problem. I, also, had grown 5 or 6 inches and still weighed 165 .lbs. I started playing baseball and basketball in the 10th grade when I was almost 14 years old. This kept me motivated to continue the exercises that I was doing. At that point everyday no matter what I was doing or where I was, I stayed on my personal program. During the day, I would do around 500 push-ups, 100-200 sit-ups, and 15-20 minutes of isometric exercises. Even if I played a basketball game and was late getting home, I did at least 100 push-ups and 50 sit-ups before bed. By the time I was 16 years old, I was about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed about 180 .lbs. and was in pretty fair shape. I had the strength that I wanted and because I had grown several inches, I looked trimmer. I graduated high school at 17 years of age and at 6 feet and 192 .lbs. I am now 69 years old and can still run. I am still pretty strong. I am, however, over weight. I am working on this. I learned at 13 years of age that you can’t talk yourself into health. You actually have to get up and do stuff. I have also learned that no matter how healthy you are, your hair won’t grow back once it leaves. Now, I, also, hope I don’t get too old to remember the differences in boys and girls.
