Since I had a few requests to design more feather hearts; I laid out some Barn Owl feathers, as with the Great Blue Heron feathers, to see if any would work well for the purpose. There were a few, but I have started with just the two for now, and they do have some promise! In my last post where I described the simple tools that I use for pencil drawings, there was a question about the eraser. I am sure this will remind many folks of schools days, but it is just your standard Pink eraser, though you will notice that I have cut it into shapes that will create different effects when used. You will also notice a toothbrush in one of the photos- and before you ask I use it to clean away debris and brush out the feathers when necessary. Downy feathers can sometimes be a bit difficult to work with, as they stick to themselves and can shift easily. By brushing the feather out on paper you cause static electricity, which adheres it to the surface, keeping it still for drawing. I hope you have had a lovely weekend filled with the joy of family and friends ;-)
