Since I started I may as well carry on this warm Facebooking of musician/songwriters I have loved and appreciated. Nick Drake is maybe the most difficult for me to understand, truth be I cannot, no one can even his family. He was an Englishman of the most earnest type of introverted artist, a man who cannot be reached and yet had grown up with all the privileges given to a well brought up child from a decent wealthy family. Having signed to Island records he released only three albums before his death through overdose or suicide (it was not really known) he suffered from depression and felt underrated and therefore suffered stagefright, some would say pull yourself together but you are what you are. Nevertheless on these three recordings he managed to produce some of the most quintessential English music of the time. Temptation is always to post River Man but a few lines of Fruit Tree seems to echo Nicks thoughts on his neglect by the general music public Safe in your place deep in the earth, thats when theyll know what you were really worth... and now decades later his thought has been proved true with legions of younger people and those who saw it then appreciating his talent and worth. https://youtube/watch?v=Y8MQcrR4OSc
