Since I was out for the day I almost forgot to post an important event in music history. September 7, 1994 was the day of Weezer’s “Buddy Holly” track release; can you believe that 20 years has passed since then? And by coincidence it would have been the real Buddy Holly’s 78th birthday today so he should be smiling at this song while being mentioned in the lyrics. It is a wonderfully made song that is often misinterpreted as a romantic song when it is actually about a platonic female friend. Its music video was set to vintage ‘Happy Days’ footage with a dancing Fonz and oversaw heavy MTV rotation before scoring four MTV Video Music Awards. It was also liked by Mary Tyler Moore who was not only mentioned in the lyrics but sent Weezer personally autographed photos. And back then if you ever owned the album – which was titled as ‘The Blue Album’ – the Microsoft Windows 95 release included the video amongst a number of “Fun Stuff” items on the CD. Goodnight folks and please try the fish. https://youtube/watch?v=kemivUKb4f4
