Since Im stuck in bed today with a really annoying fever, I took today to refresh myself with one of my favorite shows, Veronica Mars. When I first watched it when it was on the air, I knew it was a dark show. In the pilot theres has the horrifying line, Do you want to know how I lost my virginity? So do I. And then shows a flashback where she went to her first party after her best friend was murdered, was date raped and then the police mocked her. The show has this fascinating balance where you almost dont blame UPN (and then The CW) for freaking out. Its a show with bright colors, witty dialog, attractive people, pop culture references and clever mysteries. Yet its a world that is extremely depressing. In the few Ive watched today, they are all stories about tolerated corruption, class warfare, slut shaming, parents beating their children, parents stealing from their children, incest, betrayal and the overall theme that good people will always lose. Justice isnt satisfying and there are always emotional consequences. Im very excited for the movie next week. I shall be in the theatres opening night because I still cant believe this movie got made. Everyone should go see it because I would love for there to be sequels, but I have no idea if the movie will spoil the really fantastic mysteries of Season One and Two. (We can talk about Season Three later.) The pilot is currently free on iTunes. Get hooked. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/22/Veronica_mars_intro.jpg
