Since July 1st, Park Forest has experienced 18 burglaries to motor vehicles, 15 of which occurred when the offender(s) entered an unlocked vehicle. Locking your vehicle doors is a simple but effective way to defeat the vast majority of vehicle burglaries. Despite some perceptions to the contrary, there are no communities where an unlocked vehicle can be guaranteed to be undisturbed by someone up to no good: Even the most quiet communities have non-residents who pass through, a small proportion who may seek criminal opportunities. Always lock your vehicle when it is unattended and remove valuables- or at least keep them out of open view.
