Since Nirbhaya issue, I have been following up with AAP activities. Right from the beginning I had been finding some variance in this party as compared to all other parties. While the idea of politics and political parties was a Big "No-No", AAP some-how managed to create some hypnotism so much so I used to be disappointed to find no news of the same. Despite the fact that there was no much coverage by the media, the fact that a non-political (otherwise dis-interested) person like me should get so much interested in AAP so as to find ways to connect to the party remained a surprise to me till I discovered more and more about it everyday. How is AAP different? While other parties have been looking forward to giving extra rights to themselves, here is a party which is talking about reducing the extra-benefits in the form of Red-beacon vehicles, not seeking any security at the cost of the Government Funds, not availing the facility of the Government provided bungalows and committing to stay in regular small houses like the general Public. I think it takes a lot of courage to make commitment like this. It is this courage to make such commitment which differentiates the party form others. While others prefer to make vague promises not exposing themselves to accountability, here is a party which unhesitatingly announces that would limit their own wants to start with. Why is AAP different? Very often parents tell the eldest child of the family to observe discipline to ensure that the younger siblings imitate the same. The same philosophy has so far extended to our politics too. Our system remained corrupt mainly because it was lead by corrupt(partners to corrupt). This time it is no different except for the fact that it is headed by a leader who has practiced (integrity and fight against corruption) for years, what he has now started preaching others. In the last few months I came across many men and women from various professions (Chartered Accountants, Software Engineers, Doctors, Engineers, RTI Activists, Journalists) who are assisting AAP with labour, technical know-how, knowledge, skill and finances in its mission towards achieving Swaraj. Some of them devote their week ends, some of them have taken one month leaves from their jobs, some of them have taken a sabbatical for year or more. One would think that these men and women would be the stupid ones who could not manage doing better in their job. But then that is not so. These are all men and women who are taking their time out of or have given up their well-paying jobs in the competitive markets where they were in demand. The question that then comes up in mind is as to what stopped these men and men from doing the right thing before. The answer obviously is that they never found the leader-bird of the same feather(wave-length) to flock together. I take this opportunity to appreciate AAP team and wish them the very best.
