Since Tampines was officially declared Singapores first model cycling town in 2010, cycling has become a convenient way of getting around the neighbourhood with more children cycling around the estate and even riding to school. The children will now pick up the necessary skills to ride safely and responsibly with a customised cycle proficiency programme for schools in Tampines. The programme was launched today at Qiaonan Primary School. Named Bike Smart Tampines, it focuses on cycling under local traffic condition - from riding on footpaths to cycling paths and roads. The programme also includes a hands-on session to teach children bike handling skills and to follow traffic rules. It will subsequently be rolled out to all 22 schools in Tampines GRC. 938LIVE/su
