Since everyone is talking about frozen waterers lately... Here is an update on the 50 gallon barrels I have in my peafowl and poultry pens. They are working PERFECTLY! The nipples (from Aquabarrel) do not freeze. The only issue is... there is a minimal amount of dripping from the bottom drain, but silicone fixes that. I no longer deal with frozen buckets, frozen hoses, or carrying (and spilling) 5 gallon buckets of water in the snow and ice. I refill the barrel every 3-4 weeks. This has saved me HOURS of work this winter. The tank heater inside the barrel kept the water warm enough that the snow around the barrel even melted about 1 inch away from the barrel.
