Since its breast cancer awareness month I thought I may post a few facts!! So here goes! #1although breast cancer in men is rare an estimated 2,150 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 410 will die each year! #2in the U.S. today, there are more than 2.9. Million breast cancer survivors-the largest group of all cancer survivors! #3 One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime! #4 It is estimated that approximately $8.1 is spent in the United States each year on treatment of breast cancer! #5 while the incidence rate is lower for African Americans than Caucasians, the mortality rate is higher! #6 Approximately 95 percent of all breast cancers in the United States occur in women 40 years old and older! #7 Each year it is estimated that more than 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die! #8 Eighty-five percent of all diagnoses have NO FAMILY HISTORY! #9 Annual mammography is the best way to detect breast cancer during its early more treatable stages! #10 and last but not least a shout out to Avon **Avon cosmetics is generally credited with adding a spike in breast cancer awareness and fundraising for research when it began selling two inch blouse pins (and for mens lapels) of a pink ribbon in 1993 . In its first two years, the pin raised 10 million dollars. Hope I didnt bore anyone just thought I would put a few facts out there.
