Since leaving South Africa, Ive found myself at braais (barbeques) with increasingly strange things on the grill. It started with pork sausages* and halloumi (nevermind the novel concept of a gas braai) and now includes even pineapple and broccoli. I used to think I was being a bit exotic by putting chicken on the Weber, but clearly I was nowhere near being the worst offender... *Yeah, yeah, strictly speaking boerwors can also contain pork, but I cant remember ever having particularly porky sausages in SA.
