Since my Glass Menagerie speech on Bravo TV was so edited and for which I received so much scorn, Ive decided to let you decide and write it in its entirety (unedited) The Glass Menagerie is a story about a person who is trapped, trapped in her own small mind, trapped in a universe from which she could not escape. But it was not a universe that had any walls or bars or chains. It was a prison made up only in her mind. And she analogized her life to glass figurines that were on a shelf: beautiful, delicate, transparent, fragile and ultimately easily destroyed and very difficult to put back together. We are all of those things and we are none of those things. We are fragile yet we are resilient and if we can just wake up each and every day and realize the only chains we have are the ones we put on ourselves, I feel like we can go out into the world and change it.
