Since my internet stopped loading my movie (damn slow internet!) I thought Id revisit an older book of mine. Beloved by Toni Morrison. We had to read it in my horror studies class a few years back and I was not sad about being forced to buy this book to reach each week. If you havent read it or even heard of it, heres a summary without ruining it: Its set after the civil war, following an ex-slave woman named Sethe. She and her daughter Denver are living in a haunted house which makes the child kind of a loner. They live with other people too but the main story is focused on them. One day, a woman comes to the house with no memory of her past. Her name is Beloved and Sethe offers her a place to stay. Then creepy stuff goes down and I wont spoil it. Anyway! Ive read many books before that are kind of eerie but this one is one of the only stories that I consider an actual ghost story. It has elements to it that are down right creepy and make me hid under my blankets at night; which is something no other book has done before. So if youre in the mood for a good chiller, you should definitely read this one. The way its written is a little troublesome at times but once you get lost in the story, it doesnt matter. Its a short read too so you can swallow it one night if youre brave enough for it.
