Since people like to complain about customer service, Id like to give a shout out to Granite Gear. My beloved Nimbus Latitude Ki, which I carried in at least 5 states and over hundreds of miles since 2005, had the coating delaminate from the fabric. I emailed customer service to see what they recommended for me to recoat the material myself. They said not to recoat as it would void my warranty. Instead they processed it as a warranty issue and will replace the pack. The only problem is that they dont make the womens pack any more (or the mens Nimbus Latitude, either). What did they do for me? They pulled one of the few remaining a mens short torso packs out and are going to replace the mens components with a womens short frame sheet, womens shoulder straps, and womens hip belt. Other than the small outside pockets at the top being missing on the new pack (I can live with this) its functionally the same pack. The new one will be smoke blue instead of the crimson red of my old pack, but thats fine, too. It also weighs about 8 oz less. Thats a pretty good trade off for the pockets, at least for me. They very easily could have said too bad. We dont have that pack any more. Deal with it. Instead, they said, Hold on. Lets build you something as close to what you had as possible.
