Since returning to California in December, there have been 4 to 5 mass shootings in the region, with the latest occuring yesterday at a school I once attended (Santa Monica College). The severe amount of violence, fear and terror generated on American soil and exported to other countries calls into question at what point did we lose sight of our humanity and take up practices that reinforce the systematic manipulation of fear into a device of authoritarian control.
