Since school is about to start I want to post a thought I have on bullying.... I despise bullying...hated it when I was a kid. I remember kids being made fun of for speech impediments, hair lip, fat, skinny, poor, low grades, etc... True, we need to know who the kids are that bully and who the victims are...but we MUST concentrate on the other 95% of the kids that are on neither side but that are aware of what is going on. Speak up, befriend instead of ignoring the kid who gets picked on, make the faculty and parents aware. If you walk past bullying and smile or giggle or even show a look of approval you are empowering the bully. A like or share of bullying on Facebook is the same as a punch in the face to the victim and you are empowering the bully even more. I promise you that the large majority of kids (your kids) who are not involved in any way can put a stop to it just by showing disapproval....You have the bully, the victim, and then the usually large number of kids who ARE AWARE. Bullies thrive on an audience. Dont be a part of it......Someday you will look back and be glad you stood up for the victims of attention seeking bullies. I sure am.
