Since the beginning of last fall Ive felt like Ive been swept up into such a whirlwind of work, essentially trying to juggle at least three jobs--teaching, writing, and ceramics. I havent had much time for facebook, and I must apologize to many friends and family whom Ive been so remiss in communicating with. Ive really been in contact only with those in closest proximity. I spent the whole winter break between semesters making another group of vessels and putting together another pit fire. The results from the fire were somewhat disappointing as after all that work at the end of the night I couldnt get a good airtight seal on the pit with the ceramic fiber cover. I was bound and determined to let the vessels cool slowly enough to avoid cracking, but what happened is that the fire continued for three days and burned away most of the sawdust and thus I didnt get the results I was hoping for. About a third of the vessels will have to be refired. I did get a few nice vessels, however, and today I put together a web page of recent work, some from this fire, and some from last year, to show a gallery director in Waimea who is interested in possibly including my work in her gallery. tfreeman.net/Ceramics/Recent_Work.html
