Since the early days of 1974, BBC1 has often used only one festive ident during Christmas - if there was more than one, it was a daytime version (light background) and an evening version (dark background). But in 1997, the same year that the traditional globe was replaced by an orange air balloon, BBC One used several different idents, all using people or real-life objects (as opposed to model sets or animation), based around The 12 Days Of Christmas.
