Since water is life, everyone including the most marginalized have right to safe water and sanitation as a basic essential service. Access to water and sanitation remains low in Tanzania. Slightly more than half the population of Tanzania is estimated to have access to an improved water source, with stark differences between urban and rural areas .Women and children are disproportionately affected by a lack of access to WASH services. Across most of Tanzania, the burden of collecting water, cooking, cleaning, child care and care for the sick is borne largely by women and children and girls.
