Since were starting to have a discussion about technical specifications and guidelines, game rules, heres some information that I am putting up for everyone to chew on, tear apart, and in general get the thought processes going: ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mechanical - Moving speeds should not exceed their true life counterparts maximum on-road speed and damage speed reduction scaled down accordingly; - Turret rotation speeds should not exceed actual tank performance; - Gun barrel elevation or slew (side to side movement) in the case of turretless tanks should not be increased beyond actual tanks angles. Electronics - Tanks should comply with Tamiya-based battle rules where there is an inverse relationship between hit points (lives) and reload time; - The performance of infra-red receivers (aka apples) should not be altered in any way (aside from configuring for normal or TFA modes) to reduce sensitivity to receiving hits; - Each tank should have only one infra-red emitter. The infra-red emitter, infra-red receiver (apple), and gun barrel should always be on the same axis. - In the case of turretless tanks (e.g. JagdPanther, STuG), a slew angle that deviates the IR emitter from the receiver is permitted; - The installation of the infra-red emitter should not alter the beam range or beam spread from that of a Tamiya clip-on style emitter. Game rules - Players should not step within the designated game areas until the round is concluded; - Mechanical issues that arise during each round can only be rectified after the round is completed (i.e., no repair of stuck turrets or thrown tracks while the round is in progress); - No sweep-shooting (i.e. spinning the tank and firing at the same time); - Firing on the move is permitted; - If your tank is knocked out, please do not drive it off the field, recover it after the round is over (unless it is in a dangerous position). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Due consideration has been given to comments to keep it simple, hence the points to consider are outcome-oriented. There will be questions like, What if my Tiger/Sherman/ZTZ has a hatch blocking the IR apple?, or Can I mount my IR emitter in the muzzle? which the community can collectively discuss. All the points above are an evolving list and we can modify them, add to them, or reduce them according to peoples wishes. Do please take the opportunity to give us your input - we want to make the gaming environment one that appeals to the broader community. Let us know! Help us continue to grow!
