Since weve been on the subject lately. Black holes evaporate. Quantum fluctuations of the vacuum of space, in the form of virtual particles around the event horizon of a black hole, causes it to lose mass. This lost mass is converted into energy and emitted as Hawking Radiation; which means that the black holes glow ever so faintly. The smaller the black hole, the faster it evaporates and the brighter it glows. This is the first and only time general relativity and quantum mechanics have been reconciled.
