Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name Jehovah, and rejoice before him. A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. Psalm 68:4-5 KJV Within these verses are several action words that we are encouraged (commanded) to do. The words are: Sing (praises), Extol and Rejoice. "Extol" means to lift up, praise highly, glorify. Also within the verses, we are told why we should obey this command: because of who He is; The Lord God Jehovah, His power and authority, and what He is to the weak and the downtrodden. When we consistently praise God, extol and glorify Him, and rejoice in His name, the windows of Heaven are opened and we receive blessings that are too numerous for us to contain...it spills over to bless others!
