Singing is about much more than simply hitting the right notes and knowing melodies. Drummers have what we call chops, guitarists have and try to obtain unique phrasing and tonal qualities. This is also applies to singers, having a sense of realism, uniqueness in vocal attack, putting some spit on the ball, learning how to use your chest and vocal cavity to create interesting tonal qualities and not just delivering a hum drum bland version of songs. Inject emotion and conviction in the material you vocalize!
