Singtam Taxi Drivers Association discards Transport Ministers proposal on Coop Society intervention in Taxi Service 02 Sep, Gangtok : According to the Singtam Taxi Drivers Association STDA which has more than 700 members associated with the 40 years old body bears a solely responsibility for public service and transportation. The Association is not just coffering transportation services to the general public but the esteemed association has been profoundly imparting its socialbities in vivid sectors like Health, Natural Calamities, Law and Order, Education Awarness , Environment Awareness etc even during the need of hour since many decades even since founded. The STDA President Shri Tinku Adhikari speaking to VOS told that the association bears a direct attachment with the large public like flesh and bone, the diversified relation between public has enabled the association to grow up imaprting more and more functionalities exclusively for the publics benefits. The association also have donated ambulance for public convinence , said Adhikari. The association extensively has been serving for the people of state , said Adhikari to VOS. In the other hand today STDA rubbished the proposal of Transport Minister DT Lepcha to replace the existing age old Association with Cooperative Society. He also told VOS that Transport Minister instructed closure of syndicates surrounding Singtam. The mechanism of cooperative society is well understood which have no direction or does comply to public interest in comparison with STDA in any form. Adhikari told VOS that cooperative society runs in share holding parameters which only indulge looking profit sides rather than serving general public overall. In the meeting held today at Marwari Dharmashala in Singtam which was attended by more than 700 members have rejected Transport Minister DT Lepchas intention to replace 40 years old association with Cooperative Society. With such step the Minister is only trying to Misguide the Chief Minister , when everything is transparent and clear with regard to working procedures of STDA which is for publics benefit always. President in behalf of subordinates, members as well as public appeals CMs intervention in matter and nullify the decesion of Minister as a setback to already well going STDAs work for the General Public. We dont understand the logic of Transport Minister behind it, inspite he should examine relentless effort and work STDA is delivering for the public of Sikkim around the clock..., - STDA President
