Siong Leo, Judy See, Ray Chua and Simon Wong like this. SOAS FORUM Serene Wee Old Order in New Clothes? A big truck laden with heavy goods is certainly harder to make a quick turnaround than the small singapore mini car of a nation... People like my fellow young Old Rafflesians know this as well as anyone. And yet they will be the ones including the rest of older Old Rafflesians who will comprise the bulk of the Old Order resistant to change, although the outward trappings suggest otherwise. In short, they are just not ready and prepared, despite the rapid march of history happening right before their eyes for some time now. The theoretical mind understands but the spine is weak and unable and unwilling to make the effort to change ---- well hardened from suffering the bad reputation of voting with their feet despite being the best and brightest Singapore most need at this crucial stage of her history when it is going through a Karmic Rebirth on the cusp of the post LKY era. The negative social values of the Old Order pervade and persist and are not likely to be trainsformed overnight. Despite being overseas studying an working, a lot of these Old Rafflesians are not obtuse and indifferent to the presence of a value system that has bred the likes of pol spoilers like Tan Jee Say , Tan Kin Lian , Andrew Kuan etc etc. Absolutely non contributive never mind. But in other scenes the level of disapproval of their conducts would be close to strict ostracism. They do qualify to be pariahs, even in a Rafflesian scene that is better known for its dull and dour character outside the exam factory.. Like · · Share Siong Leo and Simon Wong like this.
