Sioux Falls School District is asking parents and community - TopicsExpress

Sioux Falls School District is asking parents and community members to weigh in on important building-level and district-level topics in its Climate Survey launching Monday, September 30, 2013. Designed and administered by independent technology and communication firm K12 Insight, the survey allows the district to obtain important data that will inform future decision-making. Parents will be asked for their input on school-level issues such as academic preparation, student support, parent engagement, diversity, school operations and accessibility of school leaders. In addition, both parents and community members will be asked for their feedback on district leadership, district decisions, budget awareness, community relations and school operations. “This ongoing dialogue demonstrates our commitment to not only keeping the community informed, but also listening to their valuable feedback,” said Dr. Pam Homan, Superintendent of Sioux Falls School District. “By working together, we’ll ensure that our students have the learning opportunities they need today to be productive citizens in the future.” Parents and community members who have provided the district with their email addresses will receive email invitations to participate, while any other interested parties will be able to access the survey through a link at k12insight/sfschoolssurvey.html. In order to ensure widespread participation, the survey will also be available in Spanish and all responses will be completely anonymous and strictly confidential. Once the survey has closed on Monday, October 14, 2013, the District will share the results, along with an explanation of how the data will be used to make important decisions going forward. “Educating our children is a shared responsibility among the home, the school and the community,” said Homan. “These ongoing conversations with the Sioux Falls community help us foster a positive climate as we build support for the Sioux Falls Public Schools through open, honest and planned communication.” sf.k12.sd.us/index.php?option=com_flexicontent&view=items&cid=81:district-news&id=1010:district-seeks-feedback-from-community
