Sit. Walk. Stand. Daily Devotion & SOAP Journal. Read a chapter of Ephesians a day, six days a week, and allow God to speak His Word into your life: Thursday, August 21, 2014 Rev Blue Vardaman Scripture- Ephesians 4:3 (NLT) – “Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Observation- So far in the first three chapters of Ephesians, we’ve read that “God has blessed us with every Spiritual blessing…because we are united with Christ.” We read that, “because we are united with Christ we have received an inheritance from God…; he identified you [us] as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit…; He seated us with him [Christ] in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ…”; and that this is because “God can point to us [his disciples] in all future ages as examples… as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus.” We, as his people, no matter what differences we have or variations in our cultural heritage, “are part of the same body, and both [all] enjoy the promise of blessings because they belong to Christ Jesus.” Now, today, I read in chapter 4 that we are to “lead a life worthy of your [our] calling…” because all of us have been called by God into the ministry of his kingdom. And it really doesn’t matter whether some have a “special” calling on their lives or not, we all are disciples of Jesus Christ, his ambassadors, examples of the joy we share in the body of Christ. Then, conviction of all convictions, I read, “Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.” Am I striving everyday to really live in unity with others, with my family, with my brothers and sisters in Christ; am I fully surrendering in grateful love to God’s desires in my daily walk? Application- I will pray for strength through the Holy Spirit, each morning, that I “walk” with a humble spirit, that I “grow” to become less prideful, wanting things my way, to become more fully united in the body of Christ. Prayer- Precious Lord, I lift my praise to you this day for your son Jesus Christ and the gift of grace that has been poured out upon me. Through his sacrificial love for us all, I know that I have been welcomed into your family as a child of God… Praise your Holy name. Through the Holy Spirit that is within me, guide and strengthen me today to walk humbly in love with all, that I may be united with my brothers and sisters and bring glory to your name. Amen
