Responsible for implementation and safe management of resources on site. Position outputs : The execution of tasks within time, cost and quality constraints against the background of knowledge and standard procedures and techniques. Should be able to show a good balance between the development of innovative concepts (creative ability) and the use of standard procedures. Procurement of resources (plant, material and labour). Ensure successful project execution and completion by managing cash flow, contract administration, safety, site investigations, quality assurance, team management, time and financial management. Onsite techinical training and development. Maintain the balance between the technical effectiveness of a solution and acceptable costs, within the available time span. Qualifications & Experience : A relevant 3 year National Diploma in Civil Engineering and 2 years experience in Track Construction Environment or a qualified track master with 10 years experience is required. Must have 5 years of supervisor experience. Registration as an Engineering Technician with ECSA will be advantageous. Must have a valid code 8 drivers licence and Computer literacy. Prepare to travel and work away from depot for long periods or duration of contracts. Competencies : KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, Standard Engineering Codes of Practise, Project engineering, management and execution, Contract administration, Estimating and tendering procedures, Budgeting and financial control, Safety management, basic knowledge of Transnet financial systems, Transnet internal regulations and systems, Quality management. Budget control, Construction execution, Planning & Organizing, Computer literacy, Conflict management. Time management, capable of meeting tight deadlines, Stress management - handling of pressure, Enthusiasm, drive and determination, Client orientated, Innovative, Detail and results orientated, problem solving skills.
