Born June 22, 1928 in India, Texas, Ellis County, to the late Harvey and Bernice Witherspoon. Raised and attended school in Ferris, Texas. Member, since child hood of the Church of Christ. Married to Richard L. Rice of Ferris, Texas for 49 years, until his death on April 1, 1995. Also proceeded in death by son Mark Rice, brothers Glenn Witherspoon and Ronnie Witherspoon. Survived by son Tony and wife Denise Rice of Rockwall, Texas. Sister Daphine and brother in law Johnnie Savell of Blossom, Texas. Daughter in law Donna Rice of Bay City Texas. Grandson Scott and wife Cassie Rice of Leander, Texas. Granddaughter Marci and husband Preston Williams of Bay City Texas. Granddaughter Mandi Schmoker, of Bay City Texas. Great grandchildren Easton and Ellie Rice, Mark, Meredith, and Madison Williams, and Jacob Schmoker. Visitation will be held from 6 -8 pm, January 3, 2014 at Green Funeral Home, 207 S. Wood St. in Ferris, Texas. Funeral services will be held at Green Funeral Home at 2pm January 4, 2014, with Pastor Ronnie Lowe officiating. Interment to follow at Ferris Memorial Park North.
