Sitting here, along w the rest of the world, totally shocked at the news on Robin Wiiliams. Those of us raised through the 70s, in particular, keep going back to his start on Happy Days, just before Mork and Mindy took to the airwaves. Countless movies...Mrs. Doubtfire and Patch Adams are among my favorites. But the best was seeing him in concert back in 2009, just two weeks before he had to cancel his tour for heart valve replacement surgery. We were close enough to the stage to see his facial expressions without having to look at the monitors they had up for those further back in the room. This group came in a good 20 minutes late--FRONT ROW SEATS--and he got distracted (imagine that), started using them as material. THEN, the same group got up, maybe 30 minutes later, and left. Yup. He REALLY laid into them, then got back on w his routine. End of the show, he came back out for an encore. He went on and on for not quite 10 minutes and just stopped talking. Totally silent. Then he popped off, Shit! I dont know what else to say! Im out of material!, then doubled over laughing his head off! One hell of a performance and, obviously, quite memorable. He will be missed!
