Sitting here drinking my coffee and preparing for our annual trip - TopicsExpress

Sitting here drinking my coffee and preparing for our annual trip to Townsend, TN for our ministry event we call Light in the Smokies. We work with the local missionaries, Joe and Linda Ledford, to simply set up Biker Rest Stops and hand out water and Bless Bikes. This will be our 7th year and weve been blessed with excellent weather for most of them. On one morning a few years back we woke to heavy rain and the forecast was showing nothing but rain through the weekend. I called Joe to let him know that we were thinking of cancelling the trip. He listened to me explain that it was a matter of safety and it would probably be a waste of time because we probably wouldnt see any bikers any way. He reassured me that he completely understood and he certainly didnt want us to put ourselves in danger, but he said I want to take issue with one thing you said. The minute you pull out of your driveway on mission for Him, your mission trip is a success whether or not you see any bikers. Joe inspired us. We rallied together. Some put their bikes on trailers, some delayed till the following morning and others simply drove up in cars. I wish I could say the clouds parted and the sun came out when we got there. But they didnt. It rained on us all the way there and every day we were there. But we had a great weekend! The bikers were there and they were seeking shelter. We had shelter. We just as many opportunities to share Christ and be His Light in the Smokies. I dont know what the Lord as in store for us this weekend, but I know the FAITH Riders are up for the challenge and ready to serve. Pray for everyones safe travels and the people we will be meeting!
