Sitting here looking at what is historically known as the McMillan trunk some of my #Scottish ancestors carried over to America with all their belongings more than 300 years ago, and viewing the inside, papered with The History of England, Im not surprised by yesterdays vote. So many of us Braveheart descendants are a mix. I treasure memories of my Grannys Scottish nose and general stereotypical Scottish bearing. So, heres to the Scots for negotiating more control over their local affairs while remaining an integral part of the United Kingdom, and for showing up at the polls in such numbers. Im proud to be part Scot today, as well as part English, Irish and Welsh to round out todays #UK (and I could go on with the rest of my heritage). Just for kicks, heres an excerpt from my #novel regarding some Scottish ancestors who were the progenitors of legions of people with southwestern Virginia, western North Carolina roots. This part of the story is true to the best of my knowledge, although names were distorted and switched around for fictional purposes. #Scotland
